FAR RSM Chamber Validation: Free-Space Performance Testing
Don’t settle for testing that adds complexity and risk to your schedule. Shielding Integrity Services (SIS) delivers expert, fully accredited, independent FAR RSM Chamber Validation based on decades of practical, hands-on experience—not just theory. We use state-of-the-art automated systems that maximize testing efficiency, ensuring fast turnaround of accurate data and quick troubleshooting for any required performance adjustments. Whether validating a compact 3-meter setup or a specialized 10-meter facility anywhere in the world, SIS delivers the precise, compliant results you need to confidently move your projects forward.
FAR RSM Test Objectives & Technical Necessity
The FAR RSM test determines the suitability of a fully anechoic chamber for use as a free-space environment required for radiated emission measurements. This methodology is essential when traditional Semi-Anechoic testing methods are not appropriate.
Technical Specifications
Our FAR RSM measurements are conducted in strict accordance with the methods described in CISPR 16-1-4.
- Validation Frequency Range: 30 MHz to 1 GHz.
- Test Distances: Typically performed at a 3-meter test distance.
- Polarization: Validation uses broadband antennas in both horizontal and vertical polarizations.
Test Procedure & Elevation
Unlike other test methods, FAR RSM is designed to verify the chamber performs like pure free space, demanding precise measurements across multiple points within the test volume.
- Measurements are taken at five positions (Center, Front, Rear, Left, and Right).
- Measurements are performed across three elevations at each position.
- The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) established this test method to verify the standardized performance of fully anechoic chambers.

Latest Specifications & Chamber Lifecycle
SIS always operates using the most current, accredited standards, ensuring your results are globally accepted.
- Current Standard: The most recent specification is CISPR 16-1-4, Ed. 4.2 (2023-04) Sec. 6.10.
- Lifecycle Support: We conduct FAR RSM tests on newly installed, pre-existing, and modified/upgraded chambers worldwide.
- Chamber Conversion: This test is often used to verify semi-anechoic chambers temporarily converted into fully anechoic rooms.
